Classes For All Dancers
Whether this is your first time taking a dance class or returning to your love of dance, we offer a variety of classes for your interests! Our instructors specialize their dance focus and bring excitement to each class.
At Eileen’s Academy of Dance, we know that smaller classes provides the care, attention and focus that each dancer deserves.
Each class is thoughtfully constructed to teach skills in an age appropriate and progressive manner. In every dance class, your dancer will progress. You will see your dancer improve in class over class and year over year.
Our classes are about learning dance, but most importantly in each class your child is having fun! Our classes are friendly and welcoming to all students no matter your dancer’s skill level.
We make sure that your dancer is placed in the appropriate class for their age group so they can advance their skills.
Tap dance is a form of dance characterized by using the sound of tap shoes to make music. The sound is made by shoes with a metal “tap” on the heel and toe. Tappers can create a variety of percussive rhythms with their feet by tapping, sliding, and clicking the metal plates. In tap dancing, when you change the steps, you change the beat of the music.
Ballet is the base for all other forms of dance. It is a disciplined dance form using precise and highly formalized set steps and gestures. It is a complex mixture of technique, coordination and musicality (which is feeling and moving with the music). Working on slow movements leading into turns and jumps, it is a beautiful dance which requires grace and precision.
Pointe is part of classical ballet technique. Pointe is for students who have previous ballet training. Dancing “en pointe,” is a major goal in a ballerina’s dance life. A dancer must have achieved the form, strength and alignment before to make a successful transition into pointe work. Dancing on pointe requires tremendous strength of the legs and feet. Proper training in technique is required to be able to properly rise on the toes without risk of injury.
Lyrical is a dance style that blends ballet and jazz dance. Lyrical is generally smoother and a bit faster than ballet, but not quite as fast as jazz. It is a combination of intricate, highly technical and pedestrian/naturalistic moves. The dance choreography is based around feeling and emotion. A lyrical dancer uses movement to express strong emotions such as love, joy and anger.

Hip-Hop is a dance style which includes breaking, locking, popping and freestyle. The first dance associated with hip-hop was breakdancing. While breakdancing consists primarily of moves executed close to the ground, the majority of hip-hop moves are done standing up. Like hip-hop music, which has a broad category of styles, the dancing created to the music and lyric of the song can vary greatly.
Highland dancing is part of Scotland’s ancient heritage. It is an athletic dance form influenced by ballet. Beginners work on basic movements before progressing to steps and dances such as the Highland Fling and Sword Dance.

Adults dance too! If you’re looking for something to rekindle your love of dance, get in shape and have fun while exercising we have several options for you!
